A retelling of the Mahabharata, Rider of Garuda is a book that's aimed at people who wish to appreciate India's rich cultural legacy and gain some understanding about this nation's mythology and heritage.
It is part of the larger Mahabharata series that Ashok Banker has been working on and this one concerns Krishna's fight against the evil overlord, Jarasandha.
The story begins right after Krishna's wedding, where he seeks to live in peace for a while. However, that is not to be, as the wicked Jarasandha has called forth the demon lord of Hell, Narakasura and has championed him to battle against Krishna. This causes thousands of women to fall victim to this demon. Moreover, Krishna has to go on a dangerous search for a missing jewel to defend his honor.
Rider of Garuda was published by Harper in 2013 as a paperback.
