“O Lord! The scion of the demon race, Ravana, begs of you this boon — that you renounce hostility and rest with your army for seven days. The king wishes to perform the last rites of his son in the proper manner. A true warrior always honors another, even if he is an enemy. O mighty one, your valor has made the golden city of Lanka desolate and devoid of heroes. Fate favors you now, while the clan of demons is struck by calamity — therefore, grant Ravana this wish.” After the death of his son Meghnad, the mighty Ravana, whose roar once shook the heavens, became broken and humble, sending this plea to Lord Ram like a supplicant.
