Meena Kumari

Mehta was working in an advertising agency as a copywriter, at the time of Meena Kumari's death. He then decided to write about her, delivering the manuscript the same year. Meena Kumari - The Classic Biography starts off by providing the readers with a yearly account of her movies and their box office standing. Mehta also delves on certain personal details about the actress, concurrently. He talks about the time she was born in Mithawala Chawl in Dadar East, along with the flats and mansions she went on to live in.
Instead of starting the book with the time she was born, Mehta talks about her death first. Meena Kumari, born Mahjabeen Bano, supported her parents from her childhood. She grows up to become a highly successful heroine, after which she marries Kamal Amrohi, who was already married. Kumari soon became the representative of Lux soap. During the eleven years she lived with Amrohi, Kumari shot for nearly 50 out of her 77 movies. Mehta closes by attempting to answer the question as to whether Kumari was a great actress, analyzing her voice, eyes, bearing, professionalism and versatility.
