Description
Earth has become a post-apocalyptic wasteland, with its last sanctuary being the artificial city of Mathura—encased in a dome and ruled by the tyrant Kams.
With nature being a distant memory, the immortal inhabitants of Mathura rely on synthetic food and water for sustenance. A prophecy, which has also forbidden them to reproduce, foretells the birth of Krishna, a female superhero. She is destined to travel back in time, prevent the cataclysmic events that led to the planet’s destruction, and eventually seal Kams’s downfall.
Author, entrepreneur and film-maker Madhureeta Anand’s book Krishna Circus reimagines mythology within a superhero universe, forging key connections among contemporary issues of gender and ecology.
