Description
Kab Tak Pukarun is an extraordinary and engaging novel written by Rangeya Raghav. Set in “Bair,” a rural area on the border of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, the story portrays the life and struggles of the local community, including a settlement of Nats (a nomadic performing tribe). Based on the culture of the Karnat community, once associated with criminal activities, this is a remarkable example of regional fiction. The protagonist, Sukhram Karnat, born of an illicit relationship, is a man for whom living by principles is a difficult task. The female characters in the novel, victims of such illicit relationships, are portrayed as innocent and unaware of moral codes—so naïve that for a small amount of money, they are ready to go anywhere.
