Description
Term time again at Greyfriars and the fattest figure in the Remove was in a revengeful frame of mind. He attempted to rag old Quelch – unsuccessfully! Rude notes in Latin appeared on the form-master's desk; booby traps lay round every corner, but alas, Quelch needed no Holmes or Watson to trace the culprit – for each time Bunter left an unmistakable clue to his identity, and each masterly plan ended in whops for the fat Owl.
Smithy, too, was in dire trouble – pocket money limited, gated for the term with the threat of the sack if he disobeyed Quelch, barred by his only friend Tom Redwing, a vast sum of money owing to Soapy Sanders at the Three Fishers, who placed bets for him on a horse destined to lose and threatened to tell Quelch of Smithy's misdemeanours.
It seemed to be the end for Smithy. Or was it? Tom Redwing, the chum he had so callously thrown over had said he would help him if he needed it – and now the Bounder of the Remove badly needed help.
But Tom was away on special leave and Smithy was gated. What could he do? An unexpected answer appeared in the rotund form of Bunter, but the fat and fatuous Owl only succeeded in landing the Bounder in deeper water than before! Just like Bunter!
