Description
In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones is the screenplay of the 1989 film directed by Pradip Krishen and written by Arundhati Roy. Shown only once on national television in a late‑night slot, the film went on to gain underground cult status, especially among students who screened it on campuses across India. Set in a not‑so‑fictional school of architecture in 1974, it follows a group of dope‑smoking, bell‑bottom‑wearing, vaguely idealistic final‑year students as they prepare their thesis submissions. Thirty‑eight years after its release, the film’s damaged negative was recovered and restored by the Film Heritage Foundation. This new edition of the screenplay includes introductions by Arundhati Roy, Pradip Krishen, and Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, founder of the Film Heritage Foundation. Arundhati Roy is also the author of the Booker Prize–winning novel The God of Small Things (1997) and The Ministry of Utmost Happiness, longlisted for the Booker Prize in 2017, as well as several non-fiction works including My Seditious Heart, Azadi, and her recent memoir Mother Mary Comes to Me. She lives in Delhi.
