Description
As autumn settles over Castle Knoll, Annie Adams is adjusting to life in her new home, Gravesdown Hall—a place that feels anything but cosy, especially after the unsettling discovery of two dead bodies over the summer. Haunted by the eerie sensation of being watched, Annie, feeling isolated and yearning for companionship, strikes up a conversation with a mysterious woman she encounters on the estate grounds. The woman, Peony Lane, reveals herself as a fortune-teller who once predicted the murder of Annie’s Great Aunt Frances—and now she has a chilling prophecy for Annie. Terrified of repeating her aunt’s fate, Annie flees before hearing the prediction, but her attempt to escape destiny is short-lived. Just hours later, she discovers Peony dead on the floor of Gravesdown Hall, a ruby-hilted dagger buried in her back.
