A sequel to Journeys through Babudom and Netaland, Government in India: An Inside View is an analysis of the issues of government in India. The instruments of governance and their components are subjected to micro-analysis in terms of past performance and the macro-results of these actions has been summarized. What has emerged is the knowledge of the formation of a self-serving elite preoccupied with its vested interests, served by the entire administration, including its infrastructure and development programmes. The voice of the common man goes unheard and as a result, more than sixty years after independence, the poorer segments of Indian society remain impoverished.
