Description
A familiar gleam was to be seen in the small round eyes of the fat Owl of Greyfriars School. In luck again!
There, lying undefended on the table of No. 1 Study, was the cake, and the Famous Five were nowhere to be seen. A fat form peered round the door; then in it rolled, and the experienced fat fingers of William George Bunter were soon at work.
This time, however, the familiar operation brought not only the usual painful consequences, but some surprising ones as well. The unwarranted devouring of that cake led the fat Owl to a mysterious benefactor who promised to provide him, for the Easter hols, with a caravan and horse – plus a never ending supply of free grub.
For a short time, Bunter experienced popularity at Greyfriars: the Famous Five eagerly agreed to join him. Very soon, however, under his stubborn and often misguided leadership which, among other things, took them on a moonlight hunt for the missing fat Owl, they rather wished they hadn't. But their troubles were soon belittled by matters of greater importance. Bunter's plans went alarmingly astray and it is probable that certain unexpected aspects of this eventful holiday will pierce even his fat head – and perhaps stay there.
