Bunter saves the life of a young waif, and Mauly gives the boy a chance at Greyfriars. But Flip's first days at school are full of problems, and he slides into his old ways too easily. He needs a lesson that he must not steal. Quelch is absent with a cold and it's a shock for Flip when the replacement master arrives because this is someone Flip knows and he's anything but a school master. Flip threatens "Jimmy the One" with exposure, and this brings danger on to himself. Can Flip be safe and can "Jimmy the One" be caught?
