A familiar Greyfriars trope – the newcomer coming in to discredit one of the Greyfriars men. This time its Coker's cousin Edgar Caffyn who arrives as a new boy and makes himself unpopular with everyone. Caffyn tries to land Coker in trouble but the Famous Five are ready to lend Coker a helping hand. Aunt Judy visits the school and Caffyn takes his opportunity to discredit Coker in her eyes. Coker threatens to attack Prout and, when somebody does, suspicion naturally falls on him. Things escalate and so do the adventures and laughs in this signature Greyfriars story.
