Billy Bunter Among the Cannibals

A sad day dawned for Billy Bunter (though his sadness was not generally shared by others at Greyfriars) when Mr. Bunter decided that the Owl of the Remove was wasting his time at the ancient school and had better be started on an office career. It was not quite so bad as it might have been, however; Billy Bunter's job was to be assistant to the local manager of the Comet Copra Company on the South Sea island of Lololo.

Mr. Bunter softened the blow of departure by arranging for the Famous Five to accompany his son to Lololo and spend the summer holidays there. The boys of Greyfriars soon get into adventure by falling foul of Ezra Huck, the rascally white trader of Kamakama, who takes his revenge by landing them in the midst of the cannibals of Kut, whose savage leader, Mefoo, is out for juicy additions to the cooking pots. His eyes glisten with delight when his first capture is Billy Bunter – a plump prize indeed!

Bunter, however, is not destined to provide a meal for the cannibals, or even to start in his first job. Exactly how he avoids both these rather unpleasant fates you will best read in Frank Richards' own chapters, which contain a generous helping of that masterly brand of excitement and humour which makes every book he writes a bestseller.
