Americans

Tara, single, Indian, mid-thirties, travelling from Madras (Chennai) to the US at her sister's behest, is the linking character in a novel with ten others, each telling their own story, set in different American cities, in 2005. Based mostly in the Indian-American community, the stories explore what it means to be in America, what it means to be American, with the novel's title referring to the sometimes ironic distance between perception and reality.
