Bandaged Moments: Stories of Mental Health by Women Writers from Indian Languages

Bandaged Moments brings together 26 compelling stories from 17 Indian languages, humanising psychological conditions through storytelling, with each narrative illustrating the multifaceted nature of mental health issues, the challenges of seeking psychiatric help in India, along with the redemptive power of a support system (or the consequences when there isn’t one), and the lived experiences of individuals grappling with mental health issues in varied cultural settings. Apart from compiling a diverse range of women writers, this anthology sheds light on the insidious intricacies of trauma and suffering, and the challenges and triumphs faced by patients and their caregivers within the social fabric of India. About the Author: Nabanita Sengupta: An academic, translator, and creative writer, Nabanita Sengupta teaches in Sarsuna, Kolkata. She has co-edited anthologies of critical essays, and her published volumes of translations are Chambal Revisited and A Bengali Lady in England. She has been variously published in anthologies, journals and e-zines, and has presented papers in India and abroad. Her latest publication is an anthology of poems, In between Selves. Nishi Pulugurtha: is an academic, poet and author with three volumes of poetry, one volume of short stories, two works on travel writing and several other publications, both creative and academic. She is the Secretary of the Intercultural Poetry and Performance Library, Kolkata and is on the Advisory Board, Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India, Calcutta chapter.
